Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it typically take to sell my entertainment interests?
It depends on the accuracy of the information currently available and presented by the seller. Once we determine things are in order, it can take as little as 48 hours. We make every effort to close your sale as quickly, efficiently and easily as possible.

How is my offer determined?
Our team considers a number of relevant factors provided by you and primarily consisting of two to three years of revenue statements from reporting Societies such as ASCAP, BMI, Harry Fox Agency, SoundExchange and/or from publishers such as Warner, Universal Music Group, BMG, etc. and/or check stubs and/or year-end tax returns reflecting the amount of royalty revenue earned during a specific calendar year. Your goal is to provide as much revenue related information as possible to enhance the value of your interest. Our goal is to provide you the highest fair market value that makes sense for both sides.

That is totally up to you. We will evaluate your interest and provide an offer for your holdings. The decision to keep or divest your property is yours. Contact us today to learn more about the selling process and how quickly you can be paid.

Am I obligated to sell my interest once I receive an offer?
Not at all.

How do I transfer my entertainment interests to family members?
You should contact an entertainment attorney or one who specializes in wills, trusts, probate and deeds. You should also consider whether or not you want to leave a small interest to your heirs, who will be responsible for managing their fractional share. Over time, each generation will benefit less and less from a small interest, and the costs of owning the interest may outweigh their emotional ties to the property.

Where do you think the entertainment business is headed and how will that effect my royalty?
While there are thousands of experts who might offer an opinion the truth is no one knows. It’s a big part of the risk Artist Royalty, L.P. assumes in purchasing your entertainment interests.

Do you manage or promote artists or bands?
No we do not.

Do you consider works that do not have current revenue or a revenue history covering the past two to three years?
We never say, “Never”. However, it is our current philosophy to consider works that have a proven and continued stream of revenue. It doesn’t mean alternative considerations are ever out of the question.

What if I recently joined ASCAP, BMI or any of the reporting or licensing societies or agencies will you consider my works?
If you recently joined and do not have a revenue statement it may be difficult for us to place the appropriate value on speculative works, so it may be in your best interest to see what your works generate before you consider selling.

Do you only consider music royalties?
We consider all types of entertainment royalties from music, film, theater and book publishing with proven and continued revenue.
